Training Visa (Subclass 407)

Structured workplace training or professional development, sponsored by an approved Australian organisation with a new application sequence you need to plan around.

Overview

Training visa, sponsor-ready

The Training visa (subclass 407) is for people undertaking structured, workplace-based training to build skills for their current occupation, area of study or professional field, or to complete a formal professional development program, sponsored by an approved Australian host organisation. Since March 2026, the process now runs in strict sequence: the sponsoring organisation must be an approved sponsor and have its training nomination approved before the trainee is able to lodge a valid visa application at all the two can no longer be submitted together, so timing a training start date now needs careful planning.

We work with both the sponsoring organisation and the trainee to build an approvable training plan, guide the sponsorship and nomination through to approval first, and only then lodge the visa application at the right moment keeping an eye on your existing visa status in the meantime if you're already in Australia.

Who this pathway is for

  • Employees sent to Australia for structured, on the job training.
